![]() NASHVILLE, TN - Nov. 13, 2012 - Country music singer/songwriter Ben Wells has officially teamed up with relief organization Waves For Water. The organization is one of many that help with the disaster of Hurricane Sandy. Other than helping with the damages sustained by the super storm, WavesForWater.org is an organization that thrives and persists on getting clean water to every single person who needs it, around the globe. WFW is a non-profit organization founded by former professional surfer Jon Rose and supported by Hurley International. "I was originally brought to the idea of helping some of the folks that were affected by Hurricane Sandy from a couple of fans who sent over some photographs around the Jersey area. These photos were incredibly surreal. Seeing how most of the area hit by the storm was almost completely destroyed, just hit home somewhere. Some of these people need every ounce of support they can, whether it be money, clothes, blankets, or water. I was really impressed with Waves For Water after speaking with a couple of their representatives and reading that they practice a "no non-sense" attitude. It's that character that needs to be taken when approaching devastations or people in need" -Ben Wells Waves For Water has teamed up with Hurley International to develop a DIY volunteer program called Clean Water Couriers, in which surfers searching for waves in third-world countries carry filters with them in their luggage. Using either household items or items that can easily be found in any country. With these filtration systems, dirty water becomes instantly clean, and drinkable. Lives are saved. The idea isn't to get ONE person to drop off 100 filters and call it a day, but trying to get 100 people with possibly 10 small filters, or team up with groups to implement projects with larger filters for an entire village. Then, the world will start to take notice. "Imagine millions of travelers doing this, Now we're making waves." HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF INIATIVE - WFW has a full-fledged Hurricane Relief Initiative in response to the super storm, Sandy that has absolutely decimated the North Eastern Seaboard. Though WFW normally focuses on clean water, this time they will be addressing the initial survival needs from first responder assistance to debris removal and ultimately rebuilding. Waves 4 Water has experience in disaster relief that puts them in a unique position to help organize, mobilize and deploy a strategic response initiative for the victims of Sandy. They will focus mainly on the surf-based coastal communities to start with. WFW looks at themselves as an effort vessel for the surf community to funnel their support through families and businesses of the surf community that were wiped out. Waves 4 Water serves as a bridge to connect the brothers and sisters in need along the East Coast. It'll be a long road... but one foot in front of the other, we will get there.
